Something I’m Reading

I’m reading "Fight Club” by Chuck Palahniuk… one of my favorite movies of all time- yet I’d never read the book. Dark, twisted, and deep: it’s excellent.

Some Thoughts to (Hopefully) Make Your Life Better

When I was in my mid twenties, I did some contracting work on the side and agreed to insulate under my attorney’s house. I thought it would take me a day so I agreed to do it for $300. In reality, it took me 5 days, I had to hire 3-4 guys to help, and ended up losing well over $1,000 on that job. It was, by far, the worst physical labor job I have ever done. But I never charged him more. I never complained to him. I never even mentioned how difficult it was because at the end of the day, reputation is worth more than money.

Sometimes you lose in the short term to create long term wins. I’ve used that attorney now for the last 15+ years and have a great working relationship with him. I’m sure he’s given me more discounts than I’ve ever lost on that project. Money is never worth more than you’re reputation. I’d encourage you to have long term vision when working through short term loses.

To your better life,
