Something I’m Reading
Just picked up Steven Bartlett's book "Diary of a CEO" at the London airport on my trip back to the states. 5 chapters in, and so far I'm enjoying it. Bartlett is one of the best Podcast hosts and business thought leaders in the world today, so I'm sure I'll pick up a lot of great tips.
Something I Photographed
Found this super cool "Wildlife-Zoo" about 90 minutes from London. We stayed the night, saw Giraffes and Rhinos and Bears and more… but my kids absolute favorite animals were the Wallabies!
Something I’m Excited About
I'm launching a program JUST for beginner real estate investors, called First Deal. You can learn more at FirstDeal.com, but our first meeting is tomorrow... so if you're interested in learning more, check it out today.
Also, here’s the link to the 5 Day Challenge I mentioned last week. It’s live and 100% free!
Some Thoughts to (Hopefully) Make Your Life Better
The Secret You
There is a version of you that nearly no one sees. This version of you has no need to front, to pose, to pretend - because there is no audience.
This is the version of you that decides to go to the gym even when there is no one watching. This is the version of you that gets in the cold plunge because you said you would, even though you're alone. This is the version of you that walks away from the cookie, even though it's free and available and sitting right there and no one would know or care.
But you know; you care. At least I hope you care.
Because this is the version of you that determines your destiny. This is the version of you that persists in the face of difficulty, and as we all know, persistence is one of the keys to success in any area of life.
Let's take this away from the theoretical and make it a bit more practical:
I assume you are attempting to build wealth in some way, most likely involving real estate. But to buy real estate, it's going to take getting leads, walking properties, analyzing deals, making offers, going to meetups, connecting with experienced investors, and more.
And none of these actions are done in front of an audience. No boss is demanding the work gets done before the weekend. No one is waiting on you to accomplish this task. There is no hurry, not really. And though the task might be easy, it's also easy not to do. And so most people simply never do anything, for years. And at the end of their life, they look back and see nothing but a tragic pattern of letting themselves down and settling for mediocrity.
So, my encouragement to you today is simply this: make your secret self even more integrous than your public self. If you say you're going to do something, do it.
How?
Here are two tips.
First, you must shift your identity. If you find yourself often in the "habit" of letting yourself down, you have written your identity to be someone who lets themselves down. Someone who isn't disciplined. Someone who isn't trustworthy. Maybe you've done this repeatedly, over and over, for many years and therefore this identity is strong and deep... but changing it begins with a decision. From this moment on, you ARE disciplined. You are trustworthy. You have incredible self-control. You will do what you say you're going to do.
And second, adding in some accountability into your actions is the easiest way to turn those "secret" actions into "public" actions, and thus 10xing the odds of getting them done. That's why we offer "Relentless Accountability Coaches" inside the BetterLife Tribe. If you are an experienced investor, you should really get one!
Now go out there and take some action that you know you've needed to do but you've been putting off.
Like... now. I mean now. Go do it.
Love you,
