Something I’m Reading

I’m still working through the book “The Second in Command” by Cameron Herald which I mentioned last week. I wish I was fast enough to read a book a week but I’m not there yet ;) Highly recommend this book for those building a business (or if you plan to down the road).

Something I Teach

I heard a great quote the other day: “Sometimes the best way to think is with ink.”

In other words, are you taking time out of your day or week to brainstorm ideas, solutions, problems, and opportunities in your life? If not, I encourage you to grab a pen and paper, going to nature, and sit with yourself for an hour. See what comes up. I promise you, it’ll be one of the most valuable parts of your week.

Something I Photographed

Had to run across the country for two days, and missed my kids something fierce. Thank God for FaceTime! :)

Something I’m Excited About

BetterLife has been taking off and we need some help to take BetterLife to the next level. So I’m excited to grow the team and hire for three new positions:

  1. Finance and Admin Manager

  2. Product and Software Manager

  3. Marketing and Merch Intern

Check out the link for each one to learn more and apply! Also - do me a favor, if you know someone that would be a good fit for one of these, send them the link. I’ll owe you one ;)

Something I Can Answer
Every week, I answer one question asked by a BTB subscriber. Have a question you want me to answer? Reply to this text with your question!

Question: “How do you retain and implement the knowledge and lessons your learn from the books you read?”

When I read nonfiction books, I always read with a pen in hand. Then, I set an intention beforehand that I might have to teach this someday. I’m reading not just for comprehension, but with intention to teach. There’s something magical in our brains that happen when you do this, and I retain almost everything I read this way. I rarely go back and revisit the underlined part, but that doesn’t matter. It’s the act of underlining and reading in that manner that makes a difference.

Also - every once in a while, when I read something truly a profound or life-changing that I want to implement, I will record a video and send it to someone or posted on my Instagram about the concept. That’s one final way to really cement it in.

Your Friend,

P.S. Comment below and let me know your thoughts on this week’s BTB! Please be friendly :)
