Something I’m Reading

I just started reading "The Courage to Be Disliked” by Ichiro Kishimi. This is a great read about determining the direction of our own life without focusing on the expectations of others.

Something I’m Excited About

The Texas 3-Pack is now 100% subscribed! This was our largest deal to date and was fueled by the incredible 3.8% assumable loan we locked in. If you missed out on this deal, but want first dibs on any spots that may open up, join the waiting list at odcfund.com/waitinglist.

Something I Can Answer
I’ll be answering two questions asked by a BTB subscriber. Have a question you want me to answer? Reply to this text with your question!

Question: "What are some key habits or practices that have helped you build strong relationships with your business partners, colleagues, and team members?”

Number One. Acknowledging people for their awesomeness. It seem’s like there's something inside a lot of people that makes them not want to build up other people. A lot of people just refuse to build up other people because they feel like it reflects negatively on themselves, but it doesn't. When you build up other people and recognize them for little and big things, everyone wins in that situation. I love to constantly build up, look for and then recognize when my team is doing a really good job.

Number Two. Ask a lot of questions. People love to talk about themselves. There’s a book called "How to Win Friends and Influence People” by Dale Carnegie and it’s such a fantastic book. One of the key points in there is to let people talk because everyone loves to talk about themselves. So just let people talk and ask good meaningful questions. That'll 10x your network and make everyone love you even when you're not saying anything.

Question: "What are some common mistakes or pitfalls that new real estate investors often make, and how can they avoid them?”

One common mistake I see is not relying on repeated systems and processes to get goals accomplished. Instead, they just do one off actions. An example of this would be someone who goes on realtor.com, finds a house that looks interesting and after running the numbers they figure out that it’s way overpriced. They then return to whatever they were doing like watching TV. Alternatively, they should analyze five deals from realtor.com every single day and go look at two every single week in person. This is a repeatable system that would deliver the results they want over time vs a one off here and there.
