Something I’m Reading
I just started reading "Habits of the Household: Practicing the Story of God in Everyday Family Rhythms” by Justin Whitmel Earley. So far it’s a great read on how to incorporate simple practices in your home to help you parent with a purpose.

Something I Can Answer
I’ll be answering two questions asked by a BTB subscriber. Have a question you want me to answer? Reply to this text with your question!
Question: "How do you break self limiting beliefs?”
I'll tell you a quick story. When I was in high school, I was a B and C student my freshman and sophomore year. And then somewhere between sophomore and junior year somebody, either a teacher or parent, I can’t remember. But somebody told me that I was ridiculously smart. And I was like, no, I'm not. Then they showed me evidence that I was actually smart. They believed in me more than I believed in myself. When my junior and senior year rolled around, I was a straight A student with a 4.0. So my belief told me I wasn't smart and therefore my actions were based on that. But when somebody else believed in me more than I believed in myself, something clicked and I was like, yeah maybe they’re right. That made my own internal self limiting belief change. A second way to do it, would simply be to identify what is that self limiting belief that you have. Identify it, name it. For example, I do not believe I am good at math or I am not good at public speaking or I am not beautiful etc. And then once you identify the belief, now identify the new belief you want to believe, which would be I am smart, I’m a great public speaker and I’m beautiful. Then find ways to prove it. Argue for what you want to be. Don't argue for your limitations and limited beliefs, but rather argue for your desired beliefs. Finally, your beliefs typically follow your actions. So set actions that would align with somebody who has what you think you are currently limited. So for example, if you're like, Hey, I'm not good at math. Okay, well, what are somebody who's good at math do? Well, they practice and they do a lot of math. So maybe analyze a deal every day until you're good at it. And the action will then change your belief.
Question: "How do you manage risk in your portfolio?”
First things first, diversification. Just like you wouldn't put all your chips on a single number in roulette, I don't place all my bets on a single property type or market. I spread my investments across various niches like multi-family, self-storage, mobile home parks and even different locations. This helps me hedge against market downturns hitting one area hard. Also, never over-leverage. I always making sure I have a comfortable cushion to cover mortgage payments and other expenses, even if the market decides to play hardball for a while.
