Something I’m Reading

I’m currently reading “The Energy Bus” by Jon Gordon, a fable about a man who transforms his life and work by adopting positive attitudes and behaviors. Jon Gordon is the man.

Something I Photographed

This week, I’m showing a picture that I DIDN’T take. This was taken by Alex Felice - go follow him on IG. He’s helping to run The BetterLife Tribe as the Creative Director. This was taken during one of the first recordings of the new Podcast that launches NEXT WEEK!!!

Something I’m Excited About

My new podcast has been in the works for a while…and it’s right around the corner! I’ll be announcing it next week across all channels. Go to my Instagram profile and click that bell in the top right corner to be notified of my posts so you don’t miss it! I’M PUMPED!

Something I Can Answer
I’ll be answering two questions asked by a BTB subscriber. Have a question you want me to answer? Reply to this text with your question!

Question: “People say, ‘Readers are Leaders.’ Can you read too much and too broadly or should you stay focused on one topic for six months to a year instead of reading different topics?”

I don’t think you can read too much, as I think ALL reading is beneficial. It’s only dangerous when that leads to “shiny object syndrome.”  For example, if you’re trying to build a real estate business, but then you start reading books on Day Trading…that’s a problem.

And to add a bit more on WHAT  I read, I typically read three types of books:

1.) Books recommended to me that spark something inside my soul

2.) Books that are teaching me something I need to learn or improve upon

3.) Fiction book that can hold my imagination.

I like to read all three types at once, because I’m not always in the mood for one or two of those, but I can usually motivate myself to read one of them.

Question: “When you go to a networking event, what do you need to do to stand out to get close to the person you need to be with?”

I'll answer that with three simple steps

1.) Approach Them -  Funny, it's not that hard. You just walk up to them. Lol. I'm not being overly simplistic either. Everyone thinks people are unapproachable, but almost no one is.

2.) Connect by Being Curious - However, once you meet them, now it's important to not be weird. Don't ask them to be your mentor, don't ramble on for 20 minutes about yourself.  Ask a few questions about themselves, and for a piece or two of advice. Read "How to Win Friends and Influence People" for more on this step.

3) Take Action - Go implement their advice. The best way to stand out is to be a person of action because almost no one is.

Your Friend,

P.S. Comment below and let me know your thoughts on this week’s BTB! Please be friendly :)
